    Web Filter Fortinet firewall

Web filtering is an effective way to prevent outbound communication to known malicious URLs and reduce the risk of infection from dangerous websites. FortiGate Firewall is an ideal solution for web filtering as it classifies and controls web browsing based on content. This feature automatically prevents attacks that leverage web as an attack vector, including phishing links in emails, phishing sites, HTTP‐based command, and control.

Web filtering prevents attacks that include malicious sites and pages that carry exploit kits. It enables safe web access, protecting users from dangerous websites. It restricts or controls user access to web resources and can be applied to firewall policies. FortiOS includes three preloaded web filter profiles - default, monitor-all, and wifi-default. You can customize these profiles, or you can create your own to manage network user access. The custom profile can be created based on your company’s internal security policies.

The web filtering should be customized to meet the unique needs of your organization. You can create a URL filter using the GUI or CLI, after creating the URL filter, attach it to the web filter profile. The URL filter is called a static URL filter by adding specific URLs with patterns containing text. You can also create a URL Filter (static URL Filter) by adding specific URLs pattern containing Regular expressions. The FortiGate unit firewall also patterns patterns and can display a replacement message instead.

In summary, web filtering is a crucial aspect of cybersecurity, and FortiGate Firewall offers a comprehensive solution that can be customized to meet the specific needs of your organization.
